Navigating the Records | Record Contents | Conducting a Search from the Record Display



I. Navigating the Records

  • Previous or Next Record: will take you to the record immediately previous or next in the results list. If you are at the end of a page of results, you will have the option to go to the 'Next Page of Results'.
  • Back to List of Results: will return you to the top of the current page of results.
  • New Search: will take you to a new Search form so you can conduct a new search (all previous information from the previous search will be cleared. Use the 'Back' button on your browser or click on 'Refining Your Query' from the results list page to modify your current search.


II. Record Contents

  • Record contents are organized into an easy to read table format.
  • Terms from your search query will be highlighted in red on the individual record display.
  • In the middle of the record is the 'URL from COS to Bookmark this record' field that gives the Web address of the record in order to link directly to it from an outside source.


III. Conducting a Search from the Record Display

The COS version of some Funded Research databases allow you to conduct a Keyword search from an individual record display, using the terms assigned to that specific record, to find related grants. To do this:
  1. Near the bottom of the display for each record is a list of Keywords. Click in the blank box to the left of each term you wish to search on.
  2. Choose your options for Number of Results to View and the Boolean Operator (AND or OR) you want to use to combine the selected keywords.
  3. Click on the 'Search' button to carry out the search.
